The Washtenaw County Health Department and the University of Michigan School of Public Health have announced the establishment of a formal Academic Health Department partnership. The partnership will drive innovative public health solutions through enhanced education, workforce development, and community health services.
Today, the University of Michigan Board of Regents approved the reappointments of two key leaders at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Karen E. Peterson will extend her tenure as chair of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, and Dana Dolinoy as chair for the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. Both chairs are set to serve additional three-year terms starting September 1, 2024.
University of Michigan School of Public Health Dean F. DuBois Bowman has been elected to serve as vice president of the American Statistical Association (ASA) beginning January 1, 2025.
Justin Heinze, associate professor of Health Behavior and Health Education, was selected to join a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine committee set to study the impact of active shooter drills on the health and well-being of K-12 students.
Bhramar Mukherjee is the 2024 recipient of the Marvin Zelen Leadership Award in Statistical Science from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Recipients of the annual award demonstrate their exemplary commitment to statistical science theory and practice.
