Warming climate in Brazil may increase risk of Zika, dengue by 2050

New research from Michigan Public Health

The transmission potential of Zika or dengue in Brazil may increase by 10% to 20% in the next 30 years due to warming temperatures linked to climate change, according to University of Michigan School of Public Health researchers.

Menthol Ban Would Save 650,000 Lives in the Next 40 Years

New research from the Center for the Assessment of Tobacco Regulations

Banning menthol flavors in cigarettes could reduce smoking by 15% by having smokers giving up tobacco products altogether or switching to e-cigarettes and other nicotine vaping products—avoiding 16,250 tobacco-related deaths per year by 2060, according to a new University of Michigan study.

However, recent outbreaks in Michigan beginning in 2016 have researchers eager to learn more about the spread of the virus and investigate the impact of vaccination clinic campaigns to help vaccinate high-risk populations.
