About Population and Health Sciences MPH Certificates

Graduate certificates allow students to develop focused expertise in a specific area of public health, such as applied epidemiology or health management and policy. Certificates are awarded upon completion of a defined set of courses within a discipline, demonstrating depth of knowledge in that area.

Within the Population and Health Sciences MPH program, students complete elective coursework as part of their degree requirements. During this time, students may choose to apply their electives toward a graduate certificate by selecting courses within a specific certificate area.

Students typically begin planning for certificate coursework in their second year, with the option to formally declare a certificate after identifying their area of interest and confirming course requirements with their advisor.

Note: to ensure adherence to credits policies and requirements, students should be sure to discuss certificate enrollment plans with advisors.
