Innovative Tools
A number of health and wellness tools have been developed by SPH faculty for the public:
iCON App
iCON was developed by the Center for Sexuality & Health Disparities (SexLab) at the University of Michigan, with the support of the Herb Ritts Foundation. iCON's goal is to help participants to access health and social services in Southeast Michigan as a strategy to lower their HIV risk. Participants define and achieve personal goals that address their values and challenges by accessing services tailored to their unique needs.
Lung Cancer Screening Decision Aid
Developed by Rafael Meza, former Professor of Epidemiology, and a team of colleagues, Should I Screen is the first validated, web-based lung cancer screening decision aid. Its purpose is to assist individuals and practitioners with shared-decision making about lung cancer screening.
On Purpose App
www.dungbeetle.org/about-the-app
The official On Purpose app, conceived by Vic Strecher, Professor of Health Behavior & Health Equity and Director for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship, is a simple, fun tool for crafting a powerful and personally meaningful purpose statement and then keeping track of how aligned your daily life is in relation to that purpose.
Prostate Cancer Calculator
The Prostate Cancer Calculator, derived from research undertaken at U-M SPH by Jeremy Taylor, Professor of Biostatistics, and colleagues, is designed for patients who have recently undergone external beam radiation therapy or are contemplating radiation therapy for localized prostate cancer. The calculator will provide predictions about future disease progression.
