Join Global Public Health to learn more about the summer 2025 Thailand research internships of two master's level students. In Chiang Rai, Thailand, preventative health promotion and access, specifically cervical cancer screening, is a long-term health issue among marginalized Indigenous populations. An emerging health issue is the toxic metal contamination of Mae Kok River, which serves as a source of water, food, income, and transportation for many locals in Northern Thailand. The Urban Safety Innovation Research (USIR) Group responds to local environmental and social health issues by investigating root causes and offering educational community resources. As Minority Health Research Trainees, we investigated barriers to cervical cancer screening and recommended culturally relevant solutions to address these two issues impacting marginalized and local communities. Chloe Thach, MPH Candidate, Environmental Health Promotion and Policy, University of Michigan School of Public Health, presenting on, Culturally Relevant Environmental Health Promotion in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Kenedi Clinton, MS Candidate, Environmental Health Sciences-Industrial Hygiene, University of Michigan School of Public Health, presenting on, Understanding Knowledge Gaps in Cervical Cancer Screening Uptake Among Thai Women: A Quantitative Study.
