In observance and celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the University of Michigan will once again host its MLK Symposium, a cross-campus series of events that invites the campus community to reflect on the impact of Dr. King’s vision for justice and equality. The 2026 Symposium will feature two keynote speakers: Donzaleigh Abernathy, an American actress, author, and civil rights activist who is also Dr. King’s goddaughter, and Derrick Johnson, the 19th president and CEO of the NAACP. The keynote lecture is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. You may attend in person or watch virtually via livestream. All details about the 2026 MLK Symposium events can be found on the Symposium homepage.
