Program Overview
SEP-HEALTHSpark is a 6-week summer experience enhancing students’ understanding of health equity and exposing them to careers in community and public health and health care delivery. SEP-HEALTHSpark builds on the University of Michigan Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) for Health Management and Policy created in 1986 by Dr. Richard Lichtenstein to identify and train future leaders of healthcare organizations who strive to eliminate health inequalities. With this rich history, SEP-HEALTHSpark continues the SEP tradition of maintaining strong relationships with community partners in Southeast Michigan, while engaging our extensive and highly accomplished network of alumni as preceptors and mentors. SEP-HEALTHSpark supports students in recognizing their passion for health equity and prepares and empowers them to pursue careers in healthcare, public health and health policy.
