Summary
Professor Zhenke Wu's research focuses on developing statistical and machine learning methods that address pivotal public health challenges faced predominantly by low and middle-income countries (LMIC), particularly in disease etiology and digital mental health. My contributions include producing the world’s most updated pediatric pneumonia etiology estimates across seven sub-Saharan African and Southeast Asian countries, global mortality estimation for deaths occurring outside the civil registration and vital statistics systems using computer-coded verbal autopsy, and digital mental health for healthcare workers in Kenya. I also practice, teach, and mentor on AI and statistics for healthcare, trustworthy and safe AI.
