Intended Audience: This session is open to SPH faculty & staff Session Summary: Learning the hxstory and nuanced experiences of gender expansive people cultivates an inclusive employee environment and increases our approach to inclusion in our day to day work. This workshop engages participants through a deeper understanding of their own relationship to gender while providing context to the day to day reality and socio-political climate that shapes the experiences of transgender and gender expansive people.Through storytelling, definition and community building activities participants will leave with tools to cultivate gender affirming spaces and overall community culture. Session Outcomes: - Explore your own “gender journey” and how stereotypes, norms and expectations have impacted your own lived experience - Engage in storytelling that highlights Trans & Gender-Expansive people from across the globe and varying time periods. - Highlight how colonization and imperialism attempted to erase Trans & Gender Expansive people - Climate Check: Learn the most pressing policy, safety and public health issues facing Trans people today - Learn language, terminology and tangible tools for cultivating a gender affirming environment
